So many machines & medicines have been removed in the past 24 hours that I've lost track of it all. That's good news!
Allie's nurse & I managed to get her up this morning & dangle her feet over the side of the bed. The goal was to move her to the chair next to the bed. Allie didn't make that goal but she did her first round of breathing exercises instead. She showed her fighting spirit because she was really pushing against us & resisting getting out of bed. She just wasn't ready yet. Try, try again. (As I'm writing this she did another round of breathing exercises which will continue every hour or so. This is to ensure she expands her lung capacity.)
Our dangling carrot is the visit from Victoria Holmes (Warrior author) at the end of the week. Allie actually mentioned this before going into surgery. She wanted to be through this so that she would be fully able to have her visit. That's our girl!
