The Sun is shining in Rm. 201

It may be cloudy & chilly outside but not in Rm. 201! After a great night's sleep at the Ronald McDonald House (can't say enough good things about that place), we're ready to "go to work" again today. As I write Allie is sitting in her chair waiting for breakfast. Yesterday at 11:30 we had a hard time getting her to sit in her chair for 30 minutes (pain & discomfort). Less than 24 hours later she's been sitting comfortably for almost an hour already. Amazing how the body recovers so quickly!!

Allie's voice is much stronger today which also makes her seem more herself. The breakfast she's waiting on is solid food, so her strength will come back rapidly now.

Just had to mention the phenomenal nursing staff around us. Last night after a full 12-hour shift, one of Allie's nurses from 5West came to visit before heading home to her family. This morning Allie's day nurse from the weekend here in the ICU stopped by to see her. These people go so far above & beyond the parameters of their job every day. Our well of gratitude is overflowing.

  5. It is so wonderful to hear how well Allie is doing! Sounds like she'll be "up" for her author visit tomorrow (read about it in the newspaper). It is great that she is sitting, eating, and talking. I keep her and all of the Huff family in my prayers!
